Samsung has a hard time keeping their new phones under wraps, and just before their big Galaxy Unpacked event, details about both the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 have been leaked. These leaks reveal some exciting features that have us buzzing with anticipation!
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 boasts an impressive screen, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is praised for its excellent battery life and performance. Both phones are said to be more durable than ever. Famous leaker Evan Blass has shared marketing images in his Substack newsletter, providing one of the best leaks yet. These images reveal that the Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 have frames made of armor aluminum, and their cover screens are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Contrary to earlier rumors, it seems Samsung has opted out of using a titanium frame for the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
More importantly, both the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 have an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance. While this isn’t as high as the IP68 rating seen in top-tier regular phones, it’s a significant upgrade from the usual IPX8 rating in foldable phones. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 retains the same screen sizes as its predecessor: a 3.4-inch cover screen and a 6.7-inch foldable screen. The 3.4-inch OLED screen still has a 720 x 748 pixel resolution and runs at 60 Hz. The 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen features a full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz variable refresh rate.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 sports two screens: a 6.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with HD+ resolution and a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with QXGA+ resolution. Both screens have a 120 Hz variable refresh rate and can reach up to 2,600 nits in brightness, matching the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Powering both phones is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor, accompanied by 12 GB of RAM, with storage options of 256 GB or 512 GB. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 might even come with a 1 TB storage version.
Running on Android 14 with One UI 6.10 software, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 introduces a vapor chamber system for better cooling—a first for the series. Both phones come with Galaxy AI, offering features like Circle to Search, Interpreter Mode, and Notes Summarization. However, the rumored new Galaxy AI features don’t seem to be present. The chat assist feature has been enhanced for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 cover screen, making it easier to reply to messages with context-based suggestions from Galaxy AI.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel selfie camera. It can shoot 4K videos at 60 frames per second with all its cameras. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a 50-megapixel main rear camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. It also has a 10-megapixel front camera on the cover screen and a 4-megapixel front camera on the inner screen. Like the Galaxy Z Flip 6, it can shoot 4K videos at 60 frames per second with all its cameras. Additionally, the main camera can record 8K videos at 30 frames per second and 4K slow-motion videos at 120 frames per second.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6, despite having a larger 4,000 mAh battery compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s 3,700 mAh, is thinner than its predecessor. It measures 85.1 x 71.9 x 14.9 mm and weighs 187 grams, the same as the Z Flip 5. When unfolded, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 measures 155.5 x 130.2 x 6.5 mm and, when closed, measures 85.1 x 71.9 x 14.5 mm. It weighs 239 grams, which is 14 grams lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Like its predecessor, it has a 4,400 mAh battery.
Both phones come with a side-mounted fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, dual SIM card slots, GPS, 5G sub-6 GHz, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC for contactless payments, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port. Only the Galaxy Z Fold 6 includes Samsung DeX, a feature for desktop-like productivity.
Samsung claims the Galaxy Z Flip 6 can last up to 20 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi, 19 hours on LTE, 23 hours of video watching, and 68 hours of wireless audio playback. These are significant improvements over the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 can last up to 18 hours of web browsing, 23 hours of video watching, and 77 hours of wireless audio playback, slightly better than the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
